Turns out Jessica sent me Thyme….wow….just what I am desperate for…i am cooking it into my sweetheart and I’s official “last dinner” together this evening….he moves early sat a.m……I secretly hope that this is “special/magical” thyme, and by adding this, who knows…it might just stem something into our bellies and grow us back...

Like Anna, this morning I walked outside to discover a container of red Jello and a note from EJ. I haven’t eaten it yet, but I plan to.

I sent EJ a whole box of popcorn.  I popped it fresh, salted it, and sealed it in a box for EJ to enjoy.

I sent Anna a few sprigs of thyme.  They were all that was left of my herbs from the summer. They are so fragrant and have a wonderful flavor. I thought Anna might appreciate a little bit of thyme.

I had no idea what the heck I got. So I opened it, smelled it, and licked it. Then I was like ahhh!!! Pudding mix!!! I didn’t make it, I keep it on my nightstand and continue to just stick my tongue in and just eat the mix. I like how it feels in my mouth- pudidng has the craziest texture, espically raw! Either way its still yummy!

I can’t figure out exactly what it is that I got. Obviously its plant/herb based….but what…hummm. The shape is beautiful. Even though the original life of the plant is gone, it dosen’t look dead. There is life to it still. Something about it is just…whimsical. Love it. I tried putting it in my hair, but then some of the little leaves started to break off, and I...

I think that pudding is weird, weird but delicious. I sent this to Anna in hopes that she could have some fun with it, since the texture is unusual and she seems to be a very hands on person, and maybe get her calci-yum!

For the past few weeks my apartment has had a strange infestation of the biggest flies that I have ever seen in my life and I have no idea where they came from. I was doing dishes one day and managed to drown two. The strange thing about flies is that, or so I hear, you can drown them and then if you put salt on them they will come back to life. So along with the two flies in a plastic bag, there...

I sent Jessica dirt. Dirt that has been sitting on my kitchen table in a plastic bag, for over a month, holding a seed captive. I thought that the seed needed a little more room to breathe and stole some of the dirt from its former home.

I opened my mailbox the other day to find my mail covered in a mess of dirt and dust. Courtney sent me an envelope of dirt.  Essentially, a collection of what you might sweep off your floor. So I added these bits of earth and dust to what was a pot of herbs. Here’s to next year’s garden.

The other day I received an envelope from Anna.  It weighed next to nothing.  I wondered if she sent me anything but a breath of air. I opened it to find a blastic baggie.  Seemingly empty.  Plagued with curiosity, I asked Anna what she sent: She sent me snowflakes from our first snowfall. Magical.

Jessica sent me a bundle of seed paper in the mail. Seed paper, is a paper which you can plant which will bloom into wildflowers. I really enjoy the idea of this, it reminds me of a time capsule in some way. Or a way to bury your thoughts and have something beautiful stem from them. I decided to write wishes on the pieces of paper, and then bury them in my backyard. Even if my wishes...

I sent you one of the last bloomed flowers from my yard. It is brights and vibrant still. You’re very passionate, and full of life, and I found the flower fitting because you have chosen to bloom and flourish, rather than to wilt and die like so many of the surrounding flowers around you.

Today is Chicago’s first snow flurries of winter! I caught you snowflakes and sent them to you! You seem like you appreciate the little things in life. I don’t know why, but I just feel like it will make you smile when you know. It was really hard trying to catch them! I was super frustrated and I got spurs stuck to my legs from running around with the baggy open. I was trying to...

I sent you cookie dough today. I think you’ll like it. You seem to enjoy silly, goofy things. Not to mention it is delicious!!! I wonder if you will bake it into a cookie or eat it raw. I know I couldn’t resist eating it if I got it!

On December 3, 2009, I received something in the mail from Anna. I opened up the envelope, which was wet with god knows what, and find a plastic bag inside that has this substance in it that I, nor my roommates, could identify. It had a weird smell and did not look the least bit appealing, so I left it on my kitchen table for about a week. After days of pondering over what it was, and a...

To/From is a collaborative conversation with various materials about layers of communication. We are dealing with the ephemeral through temporary objects, which are given a permanent home on the internet, making this intimate exchange public. By mailing objects that we feel fit this definition to one another, our conversation stems from what these objects are into one about the United States...
